The Palau NOC proudly welcomes Rachel de Leon, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instructor, to Palau to lead an official training for umpires as part of preparations for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games. The training was successfully funded through Olympic Solidarity, with coordination and support from the Palau NOC.
This week, eight participants began their journey toward becoming certified umpires, successfully completing the ITTF Basic Umpire Course under Ms. de Leon’s expert instruction. The course is designed to equip local officials with the foundational skills and knowledge required to officiate table tennis events at a regional level.
Through this initiative, PNOC continues to invest in building local capacity in sports officiating, ensuring that Palauans are empowered to take on essential roles in the upcoming games. As these umpire trainees advance to the next level of certification, PNOC remains committed to engaging more youth to step up as sports officials and to join our journey to deliver a world-class event.
Congratulations to all participants and to the Table Tennis Federation of Palau for the successful completion of this training.
The PNOC looks forward to expanding this program to include more aspiring umpires and strengthening its partnership with ITTF and regional sports leaders as Palau counts down to the 2025 Pacific Mini Games. (PR)
